Cathedral series of sketches, wax crayon and pencil plus a lot of smudging

Tree of Life fractal painting inspired by natures fractal trees

Nature is a truly wonderful source of inspiration

Drawing from observation is a bit like playing the scales in music, it loosens you up and stimulates your creativity

Starting Points

Ideas, doodles and inspiration including photographs of people, places and nature

It is also interesting to see finished work alongside drawings.

Doodles are a great way to spend some creative time without worrying about the end result

About Me

My photo
Paul Hardcastle Artist
Carlisle, Cumbria, United Kingdom
Blending sculptural and figurative relief into tiles, murals and mosaic, is a joy. Rich colours and surface texture, vibrant design and a sense of scale all have their part to play. Over the years I have worked using many different media forms producing sculpture, murals and features for public places, the theatre and exhibition sets, also numerous private commissions. For the future I am always interested in new projects.

Sculptural Ceramics

Up And Down the line

The original idea was a meeting of artists producing on a common theme to build a visual array of stunning proportion.
The theme is the ancestors, those living and those still to come, looking at how we pay homage, celebration and looking forward.

The patterned bands that run through all these batiks represents a timeline that links the pictures, people and activities

Rift Valley

From the air the sheer scale of this natural feature is awesome
